Hej, i onsdags förmiddag åkte vi genom alla bergsmassiv genom tunnlar söderut i Österrike, genom Slovenien och sedan kom vi till Kroatien. Molnen låg låga över bergen i alperna men vi kom fram till…

…medelhavet, båtar och sol. Vi hade funderat på vart vi ville äta lunch någonstans när vi kom fram. Det är vår tradition att äta lunch någonstans i Istrien innan vi tar in på hotellet.

…the Mediterranean, boats and sun. We had been thinking about where we wanted to have lunch when we arrived. It is our tradition to have lunch somewhere in Istria before checking into the hotel.

Denna gången valde vi att åka till Vsar och Restaurant Trošt Vrsar, som ligger i deras marina. Ett glas iskall Malvasia och deras färska scampi blev starten på måltiden. Hmmm, vad gott! Nu startar känslan för vår och sommar!!

This time we chose to go to Vsar and Restaurant Trošt Vrsar, which is located in their Marina. A glass of ice-cold Malvasia and their fresh scampi was the start of the meal. Hmmm, how delicious! Now the feeling of spring and summer begins!!

Till huvudrätt blev det grillad calamari med mangold. Har du provat? Om inte, så bara du måste äta detta nästa gång du är vid medelhavet. Fantastiskt!

For the main course, we had grilled calamari with Swiss chard. Have you tried it? If not, you just have to eat this the next time you're by the Mediterranean. Fantastic!

Därefter checkade vi in på Valamar Riviera Porec. Första gången som vi bor inne i stan. Mysig känsla! Detta är ett lite mindre hotell, med mer intim känsla, och stiligt. Riktigt god frukost och lätt lunch, ingår i priset. Utsikt över havet är ett extra plus.

Then we checked in at Valamar Riviera Porec. First time staying in the city. Cozy feeling! This is a slightly smaller hotel, with a more intimate feel, and stylish. Really good breakfast and light lunch, included in the price. View of the sea is an extra plus.

Efter incheckningen tog vi en runda i stan. Gamla venetianska hus som är bedagade, men som håller på att renoveras med försiktigt hand.

After checking in, we took a tour of the town. Old Venetian houses that are dated, but are being renovated with careful care.

Det är mysigt att gå runt i gränderna så här i lågsäsong och att se dessa ställen utan alla människor, höga ljud, stök och musik. Att få äga staden en stund som en infödd.

It's nice to walk around the alleys like this in the off-season and to see these places without all the people, loud noises, chaos and music. To own the city for a while like a native.

Hit hade jag gärna flyttat!! Lite stort kanske, men vad gör det?

I would love to move here!! A little big maybe, but what does it matter?

Vackert, eller hur? Och med fantastisk utsikt över havet.

Vid lunch dagen därpå drog molnen in och sedan har det regnat i ett par dagar. Men vad gör det? Jag njuter och läser bok och jobbar. Och hoppas att min pollenallergi skall lugna sig. Just nu ser jag ut som en alien, men röda ögon. Usch! Maken är här med sin tennisklubb och spelar tennis fredag - söndag. Så inte helt optimalt med regn för deras spel på sandtennisbanor men det ordnar sig och de är ju ett gäng glada gamla amatörer så ingen större skada skedd. Tänker jag i alla fall! Nu vilar jag på hotellrummet för ikväll skall vi till en konoba (en klassisk Kroatisk restaurang, gärna i ett stenhus med gammal men inredning) och äta grillad bläckfisk. Mer om det i nästa inlägg. At lunch the next day the clouds gathered and then it rained for a couple of days. But what does that matter? I'm enjoying it and reading a book and working. And hoping that my pollen allergy will calm down. Right now I look like an alien, but with red eyes. Ugh! My husband is here with his tennis club and playing tennis Friday - Sunday. So not exactly optimal with rain for their game on the clay courts but it's manageable and they're a bunch of happy old amateurs so no major damage done. At least I think so! Now I'm resting in the hotel room because tonight we're going to a konoba (a classic Croatian restaurant, preferably in a stone house with old but nice interior) and eat grilled octopus.
